Advent time is feel-good time! The bakery is steaming, Christmas scents fill the home and it's time for sensual get-togethers and enjoyment. This jam without sugar is a must. Although the sugar is missing, the plum jam bursts with a seductive mulled wine aroma. Once you've tried it, you won't want to go without this mulled wine jam during Advent.
place the jars you want to use in the oven for 10 minutes to sterilize them.
first, bring red wine or water with mulled wine spice to the boil in a pan over low heat. cover the pan and leave to infuse for about 10 to 15 minutes so that the mulled wine flavor is intense enough.
pour the mulled wine or mulled water through a sieve to remove the remaining spice
place the plums in a pan with your mulled wine or mulled water and simmer over medium heat for about 5 minutes. if you use frozen plums like I do, it will take a little longer, about 10 to 15 minutes.
puree the jam with a hand blender. if you like it chunkier, you can also simply mash the plums with a fork.
add the chia seeds, stir well, and immediately pour the hot jam into the jars and seal. then turn the glasses upside down. I like to use these jars for my storage.
Notes
*those who strictly avoid alcohol can use water or grape juice instead of red wine.
